  Dr Reese called me personally today 8/19/2016, very impressive, right? He called to argue with me about my eye insurance. I have had the same insurance for over 8 years and never paid more than $10.00 for a well eye exam which was for the contact fitting. Dr. Reese's charges out of pocket after exhausting my 100% coverage of a well eye exam and $60.00 contact fitting a whopping $179.00 out of pocket expense to the patient.
  
  I am a contact wearer for 35 years. I have my yearly exam annually, with what all offices call a contact fitting. In the past, test are conducted, I walk out with eye glasses prescription and contact prescriptions in hand. Not at this office. Dr. Reese charges $219.00 for the well eye exam with an additional charge of $165.00 for a contact fitting.
  
  I stood in their waiting area, with other patients within feet, mortified of being quoted $179.00 was expected of me at that time. They exhausted my medical spending acct and came to me in front of everyone stating there was a remaining balance. I explained that I had never paid more than $10.00 for a co-pay and was confused by the fee. Their remarks; that's whats due. I asked if they had my insurance companies number handy so I could call and they did not. Of course, I was humilated because I didn't bring the additional funds with me to pay the remaining portion being required. I asked if I could call later to pay the balance. It was extremely humiliating.
  Per Jeff, Ann, Andrian, and Brittany at VSP Insurance, many test were conducted during my visit with Dr Reese's office, that the average OD doctor does not run. (Dr Reese argued they were mandatory by law in our 8/19 conversation).
  My question to this office, and am posting this today in hopes of educating others in avoiding a $179.00 out of pocket expense and embarrassment; Why would any office not discuss out of pocket expenses with patients before running test that are not warrantied, especially when there has never been any prior issues. Why would you assume someone walked into an office ready to pay $179.00 out of pocket?
  The conclusion is good though; VSP, my eye insurance carrier, made an exception after hearing about my experience with this physicians office. They are being kind enough to give me additional benefits to redo my well eye exam, keeping all of my allowances, to visit a different office that doesn't hide fees.
  
  BTW; Now they are arguing with me about an over charge they ran on my credit card. They will not credit it back unless I come back into their office. They won't do it with me conveying the card number over the phone per Courtney, receptionist.
